Copper – It’s Not Just For Pipes Anymore
When you think of copper for use in your home you probably think of copper pipes, perhaps a copper sink. But have you heard of copper furniture? It’s real, it’s out there, and it’s very, very rustic.
Room by room in your home there are many options to use copper to complement your rustic atmosphere.
Dining Room
A dining room table is a place where the family or close friends will
spend a lot of time together so why not make the table as much of an
experience as the meal? If you have a decorating style that makes
people feel as if they are walking across the plains of New Mexico, you
can add the extra punch of Southwestern copper dining furniture that
enhances that theme.
Living Room
While lounging on your western style wood sofa, why not have some wood
and copper furniture to rest your wine glass or set a reading lamp on.
There are many different table styles available when it comes to these
pieces. Some have a wood top with ornate copper legs and fittings;
others are copper top furniture pieces with a tabletop that may be an
artistically hammered piece of copper. Some are even created with dyed
metal inserts that depict animals, trees or other aspects of nature.
Bedroom
Imagine going to sleep in a bed covered with ornate leaves and vines,
cushioned by comfortable country bedding. This is an option with
today’s hammered copper beds. These frames are made of
hand-hammered leaf and vine shaped pieces of copper that are combined
to create a charming and cozy sleeping experience.
Caring for your copper furniture is not hard
either. An occasional once over with some copper polish should keep it
looking new for years to come. When it comes to the dining room table,
don’t place hot plates or drinking glasses directly on yourcopper tables
. They may mark the top. You should place them on a placemat, trivet or
coaster instead. Also, ferrous metals can discolor copper, so you may
want to watch candlestick holders and other metals that may come in
contact with your copper furniture.
